Consultancy services
ARK CLS has expanded its operations to offer a consultancy service. Using highly experienced interpretation geoscientists, ARK CLS has been able to undertake project work for clients, to invert seismic data and interpret the resultant impedance volumes. This venture has proved to be highly successful and has resulted in subsequent software sales. Encouraged by this achievement, ARK CLS has entered into an agreement with PGL (www.pglweb.com) to provide a fuller consultancy service using our Seismic Coloured Inversion (SCI) and Seismic Spectral Blueing (SSB) software.

Seismic Coloured Inversion (SCI) update
During 2003, ARK CLS released SCI V2.0. This is a major update which further develops this powerful fast track inversion tool without compromising the ease of use of the original. With the added normalisation capability, explorationists can now generate inverted volumes where the resultant amplitudes have physical meaning. This has proved to be particularly important when working with 4D projects. Other enhancements include use of horizon data to control time gates, application of the SCI operator using the processing module and support of SEGY. These updates also benefit Seismic Spectral Blueing (SSB), which shapes seismic data to the observed Earth’s reflectivity. SSB is a complementary product to SCI. Seismic Feature Enhancement (SFE)
ARK CLS has added SFE to its growing suite of specialised software products. Seismic resolution of fluid contacts within potential reservoirs is a key risk-reducing factor in exploration prospects. SFE provides a very powerful technique to help explorationists recognise flat spots much earlier during the interpretation cycle. Frequently, subtle flat spots are only recognised after discovery. SFE is now being routinely used to reduce the risk of drilling dry holes. As with our other products, SFE is easy to use and seamlessly connects with the major interpretation data repositories used by our clients. SFE has been developed using Qt, which is a cross platform object orientated development tool from Trolltech (www.trolltech.com). Bespoke software development
Development of bespoke software for clients continues to play a key role in ARK CLS's growth. Clients are increasingly finding it cost effective to out-source bespoke software development projects rather than support specialised in-house software engineering teams on a continuous basis. Clients also benefit from the rich set of software components that ARK CLS has built up over a number of years. This frequently makes development of the proprietary utilities much easier. ARK CLS is able to offer bespoke development ranging from small plugin modules to complete self contained software packages. Our bespoke software solutions also benefit from being able to seamlessly connect with both Landmark's OpenWorks/SeisWorks and GeoQuest's GeoFrame data repositories.
