ARK CLS supports ARKFIELD |

ARK has entered into an agreement to outsource its software support and maintenance of ARKFIELD™
to ARK CLS. User support will continue to be undertaken by ARK. Adrian
Bennetton of ARK CLS and Paul Versnel of ARK believe that this
outsourcing agreement will bring many benefits to both the
ARKFIELD™ client base and to our two companies.
Bringing together
the best software development practices and technology used by ARK and
ARK CLS will allow ARK's powerful seismic and potential field
integration tool to evolve at a faster pace. The latest Linux release
of ARKFIELD™ has already benefited from using the well
established high performance client/server model provided by ARK CLS.
In response to
customers' requests, ARK CLS has created a new GeoFrame®
Charisma® FieldServer on Solaris which, in addition to IESX data,
allows Charisma© seismic data to be accessed directly from within
ARKFIELD™ We are also looking into the feasibility of making
ARKFIELD™ OpenSpirit© compliant which should allow
ARKFIELD™ to integrate with PC based interpretation systems.
During the coming
year, ARKFIELD™ will be given a major face-lift with new versions
of the data servers being added. It is planned that applications using
the Motif based GUI will be phased out and replaced by applications
using the Qt application framework from Trolltech. Qt is a C++
cross-platform development tool available on Unix,
(Linux/Solaris/MacOSX) and Microsoft Windows platforms.
John Watson has
joined the ARK CLS team and will bring continuity to the outsourcing
project. Many clients will remember John as being ARK's principal
geophysical software engineer who had worked for ARK on the ARKFIELD™
software project from its inception.
ARKFIELD™ is currently available on SUN Solaris 8 and 10, and on Redhat Enterprise Linux Release 3.
